Tia Jones has been teaching ASL at OSU since 2002. In 2003, she became the Assistant Coordinator of the ASL program for the College of Education and Human Ecology. Currently she is the Interim Director of the ASL Program.
Tia didn’t start out as a teacher; she began her career interpreting in the Columbus area working for several agencies, both state and local. It was during that time that she discovered the teaching path. Conducting workshops and community classes for a variety of consumers led her to make a connection here at OSU. It was while working here that she developed an interest in curriculum and curricular development. She has since added interests in second language acquisition, Communicative Language Theory (Communicative Approach), and Deaf History.
