Ann Silver, one of the founding members of the Deaf Art Movement. Born Deaf, this self-taught artist's work addresses issues of discrimination, politics and human rights. She will be discussing her life with Jim Van Manen, Ph.D., the author of her art-o-biography, ONE WAY DEAF WAY.
The Columbia Chronicle Published on Apr 6, 2012. Internationally known artist, Ann Silver, made her gallery debut at Columbia with "One Way, Deaf Way." In addition to the gallery, the ASL department hosted a presentation where assistant ASL professor Dr. Jim Van Manen and Silver discussed her journey as a deaf artist.
The lecture will be located at The Blackwell Inn & Pfahl Executive Education and Conference Center is located at 2110 Tuttle Park Place, at the corner of Woody Hayes Dr. & Tuttle Park Place. It is free and open to the public.
