Jake Lipps is a Deaf educator and Deaf interpreter with experience working alongside Deaf, hard of hearing, DeafBlind, and hearing individuals across educational and community settings. His work as an educator is grounded in the belief that American Sign Language is more than a language—it is a way to build connections, strengthen communities, and foster a deeper appreciation of Deaf culture. 

Jake earned a Bachelor of Science in Deaf Advocacy from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and is enrolled in the Teaching American Sign Language (TASL) graduate program at the University of Northern Colorado. During his undergraduate studies, he participated in research that contributed to published scholarly work, strengthening his commitment to evidence-based teaching, advocacy, and lifelong learning. 

He has taught ASL in both community college and community education settings, working with learners from a variety of backgrounds and proficiency levels. Jake is passionate about creating engaging, visually rich learning experiences that help students develop confidence in ASL while making the learning process enjoyable, welcoming, and accessible for everyone. His teaching emphasizes communication, Deaf culture, and the visual nature of the language while encouraging meaningful connections within and beyond the classroom. 

Outside of teaching, Jake enjoys spending time with loved ones and his pets. He especially enjoys quiet getaways in nature, including cabins, forests, mountains, kayaking, camping, and exploring the outdoors.
